The fire broke out at Cardrew Industrial Estate on Saturday morning

Ten fire crews have been called out to a huge blaze on a Redruth industrial estate.

Emergency services are currently at Cardrew Industrial Estate at around 07:31 BST after a fire spread to a gas cylinder store.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: “The fire involves 3,000 pallets and five shipping containers, which spread to a single-storey building used for storing cylinders.”

The service has not reported any injuries at this time but has asked members of the public to avoid the area due to the large smoke plume.

Cornwall Council advised residents and business owners in the vicinity to keep their windows and doors closed.

Crews from Tolvaddon, Hayle, Perranporth and Falmouth were sent to the scene with further appliances from Truro, St Just, St Austell, Helston and St Columb.

Another crew from Falmouth was sent shortly after, the fire service added.
