A section of the M8 has been closed after police received a report of a man with a possible weapon on a slip road.
Officers shut the motorway at junction six eastbound for Newhouse and Chapelhall, North Lanarkshire, after receiving the call about 08:55.
The slip road on the A8 eastbound at the Eurocentral industrial estate is also closed.
Police Scotland said specialist officers had been sent to the area as a precaution while a search is carried out.
