Tributes have been paid to a “beloved” grandfather who died in hospital after being involved in a crash.

Motorcylist Kenneth Bright, from Llanharry, Rhondda Cynon Taf, was taken to hospital by ambulance after colliding with a car on the A4106 in Tythegston, Bridgend at 13:50 BST on 1 July.

He died in hospital on 4 August, and his family have described the suddenness of his passing as “difficult to comprehend” but said they are taking comfort in knowing he is now at peace.

South Wales Police said it was continuing its investigation and have appealed for anyone who witnessed the collision, or may have any dashcam or CCTV footage, to come forward.

The crash involved a silver Triumph motorcycle, which was driven by Mr Bright and a red Land Rover Defender.

The police said it was interested in speaking with the elderly occupants of a yellow Honda Civic who stopped at the scene but left before police arrived, as they may have “valuable information” regarding the crash.

It also encouraged the driver of a small grey car which was turning right into Dan-y-Graig nursing home to make contact, as they may have seen the motorcycle in the moments before the incident.

In a tribute, Mr Bright’s family said: “As a beloved father, grandfather, brother and son, his loss has left us in shock and he will be dearly missed by his loving family, and many friends.

“We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the ambulance service and incredible staff at the Heath Hospital, whose tireless efforts and compassion will never be forgotten.”
