When a terminally ill mother-of-three put out an online plea for extra Christmas cards this year, she never expected to receive hundreds through her door every day.
Clare Jones, 47, from Pontarddulais, Swansea was diagnosed with bowel cancer in May 2022, but was recently told her chemotherapy was no longer working and that she has about 10 months to live.
Clare said that after realising it would be her last Christmas, she wanted to make the festive season “a bit more magical”, and hoped having cards to open each morning would put a smile on her face.
She said she has been “overwhelmed” by the outpouring of love, having so far received thousands of Christmas cards, as well as flowers, chocolates, personalised gifts, theatre tickets and even caravan holidays.
