Flint Town United’s home Cymru Premier match against Caernarfon Town has been abandoned and a fan “seriously injured” after crowd trouble at Cae y Castell.
The hosts were leading 2-0 in a crucial game in the relegation battle.
Both sides were ordered off the pitch and half an hour later the clubs confirmed the game had been abandoned.
“A man who was seriously injured within the stadium during the incident has been taken to hospital in Aintree,” said a North Wales Police statement.
“As a result of the disorder, the match was abandoned, and a large police presence remains in the area.
“A 24-hour dispersal order is now in place in Flint town until 6.30pm tomorrow (Sunday, April 9th).”
Flint Town United chairman Darryl Williams told S4C’s Sgorio: “We have called the police… these are very sad scenes.
“It’s completely unexpected. Both sets of supporters were in good voice but this violence came out of nowhere.”
Jean Louis Akpa-Akpro and Anthony Stephens had put Flint 2-0 up before the match was abandoned.
