A 33-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a pensioner in County Tyrone in February this year.

A second 34-year-old man also appeared charged with a number of offences connected to the case including assisting an offender, withholding information and perverting the course of justice.

Adam Krzan was originally from Poland but had lived in the Dungannon area for more than 20 years.

On 27 February, emergency services were sent to his flat in Corrainey Park on the edge of the Lisnahull estate where he suffered multiple stab wounds.

At the time police said the 71 year old died as a result of serious injuries following an assault at the flat.

On Friday at Dungannon Magistrates Court, police said they arrived to a “disturbing scene” at the flat and there was a large volume of blood.

Police said they found Mr Krzan with three stab wounds to his chest and two to his neck.

During a court hearing on Friday, a 33-year-old man was charged with murder, robbery and going equipped for burglary.

Ryan Patrick Kerr, with an address of Derrylattinee Road, Dungannon, spoke only to confirm his name and to confirm that he understood the charges.

During the hearing a police detective sergeant said that they believed they could connect Mr Kerr to the murder.

There was no application for bail made for Mr Kerr and he was remanded into custody.

A 34-year-old man also appeared in court charged with a number of offences connected to the case including assisting an offender, withholding information and perverting the course of justice.

Michael John Ennis with an address of Cloneen, Dungannon, appeared in the dock and spoke only to confirm his name.

His defence barrister made an application for bail but this was rejected by the judge.

A further hearing for both cases was listed for 2 May.
