A scuba diving event in County Donegal has been cancelled following the death of a man on Saturday.
A man in his 40s died following an incident in Teelin Bay on Saturday afternoon.
Irish broadcaster RTÉ News is reporting that he died after getting into difficulty at a scuba diving event.
Gardaí (Irish police) said the incident occurred around 12:30 local time on Saturday and they subsequently received a request for assistance from the Irish Coastguard.
RTÉ have reported that 100 divers were taking part in the North West Dive Rally, organised by the Donegal Bay Sub Aqua club at Teelin Pier.
Two men were recovered from the water.
The man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene.
The local coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination will take place in the coming days.
The second man, aged in his 60s, is receiving treatment at University Hospital Galway.
