A woman has denied charges linked to the alleged murder of a 37-year-old whose body was found a week after she was last seen.

Maryam Delavary, 48, from White City Estate, London , pleaded not guilty to charges of preventing a lawful burial and perverting the course of justice.

These charges relate to the death of Paria Veisi, 37, who was last seen in Cardiff on 12 April and was found dead a week later at a property in the Penylan area.

Ms Delavary appear at Cardiff Crown Court on Friday alongside Alireza Askari, 41, from Penylan, who is charged with murdering Ms Veisi. He did not enter a plea and both were remanded in custody.

Ms Delavary spoke only to confirm her name and enter her pleas during a short hearing at the court.

An inquest opening heard Ms Veisi’s provisional cause of death was stab wounds to the neck and upper chest.

Ms Delavary and Mr Askari’s four-week trial was set for 6 October.
