BBCPolice are searching for a man suspected of stabbing two people in Bangor, County Down on Christmas Eve.
A man in his 20 and a woman in her 50s were injured in the attack and taken to hospital for treatment. Authorities initially said one person was in critical condition.
Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) Ch Insp Rocks said an investigation was under way and “efforts are being made to locate the suspect”.
The public has been warned not to approach the suspect, who police say is 5ft 10 in and armed with a hammer and a knife.
Police described the man as having short, dark hair, and wearing “a blue hoodie, a grey coat, a dark coloured t-shirt, blue jeans, and dark trainers with white soles.”
Ch Insp Rocks urged the public to “create a safe distance and contact police immediately” if they see the man.
The attack on Wednesday happened at around 15:30 GMT in Chippendale Avenue.
In a separate incident, a man was stabbed outside a hotel on the Lurgan Road in Banbridge at about 20:30 GMT on Tuesday.
One of the attackers threw a liquid in the victim’s face.
The injured man attempted to run away, but fell and was then slashed multiple times across his back, before the attackers got into a vehicle and drove off.
Police said the attackers were male and had their faces covered, but it is believed they were driving a black Toyota Avensis.
