Several businesses were evacuated and a main road was shut in a town centre as police investigated reports of two “unexploded ordnance devices”.
South Wales Police said officers were called to a building site in Cheapside, Bridgend, at just before 08:55 BST on Wednesday.
Brackla Street was closed from Castle Bingo down to the junction of Nolton Street, before being reopened after a device was “safely removed”.
The force said officers returned to the site at 11:35 and again closed down the area after another device was found, which was also later removed safely.
