Eight-month-old Mabli died four days after the crash outside Withybush Hospital

A 70-year-old woman has admitted causing the death by dangerous driving of an eight-month-old baby in a crash outside a hospital.

Mabli Cariad Hall, from Neath, died four days after a car hit her pram outside Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, in June 2023.

Bridget Curtis, from Begelly, Pembrokeshire, pleaded guilty at Swansea Crown Court to causing death by dangerous driving.

She is due to be sentenced on 22 November.

An inquest was told in 2023 that Mabli was in her pram outside the hospital at the time of the crash and died four days later at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children from a severe traumatic brain injury.

Her father, Rob, was also injured in the incident.

He was present alongside Mabli’s wider family in court on Friday.

Mabli’s mum, Gwen, held a soft toy during the hearing.

Bridget Curtis appeared at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court in August

Curtis appeared unsteady as she walked to the dock and closed her eyes when she was asked to enter a plea.

Defence barrister John Dye said she had a clean driver’s licence and no previous convictions.

Judge Geraint Walters ordered an interim driving disqualification for Curtis and granted her bail until the next hearing.

Mabli's family left court holding a soft toy. Two women wearing black dresses and light coloured cardigans walk down the stairs. One is holding a soft toy in her right hand which is also being held by a man who is bald and wearing beige trousers and jacket and a black top. Six other family members are visible walking behind them wearing coats

In a tribute following Mabli’s death, her family said: “Our family life has been changed forever and to this day we are still trying to come to terms with what has happened.

“We will never forget that love and support shown to us and for the memory of our precious angel, Mabli Cariad.”

In June, the family laid flowers at the spot where Mabli was fatally injured, exactly a year since it happened.
