A 35-year-old woman and a four-year-old boy have been injured after being attacked by a dog in a street in the Borders.
The incident happened at about 15:00 on Saturday in the Wilson Drive area of Hawick.
Police said the woman and child had been attacked from behind by what they described as a brown and tan Staffordshire Bull Terrier-type dog.
The boy suffered facial injuries and the woman received an arm injury and they were both taken to the Borders General Hospital for treatment.
The dog was last seen heading towards Chay Blyth Place in the town.
Anyone who witnessed the attack or has information which might help to identify the owner of the dog has been asked to contact the police.
