Newport County narrowly missed out on promotion to League One in 2021, losing the play-off final 1-0 to Morecambe<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Newport County chairman Gavin Foxall has resigned from the board and Supporters’ Trust due to ill health.<\/span><\/p>\n

Foxall, who has not been present at Newport games since January, first supported interim chairman Tony Pring in 2015 as a member of the board before going on to take up the role himself.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“We would like to place on record our thanks to Gavin for his significant contribution and hard work over the years,” said a club statement.<\/span><\/p>\n

“We wish Gavin a speedy recovery.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Foxall leaves in the wake of director Kevin Ward’s decision to step down due to a conflict of interest with Newport Live, where he is chairman.<\/span><\/p>\n

Newport are currently 16th in League Two, 12 points clear of the relegation zone with nine games left to play.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
