The number one ranked team in the world will be based in New Zealand for their Group E campaign.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".967nrv2nwm.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-26\"><span data-reactid=\".967nrv2nwm.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-26.0\">They start against Vietnam in Auckland on 22 July (02:00) before travelling to Wellington to play the Netherlands in a repeat of the 2019 final on 27 July (02:00). However, former Fifa council member Moya Dodd described the appointment as &#8220;tone deaf&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".967nrv2nwm.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-36\"><span data-reactid=\".967nrv2nwm.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-36.0\">In addition, a newly-created qualifying tournament &#8211; with 10 teams flying to New Zealand for games to decide the final three places at the tournament &#8211; was labelled &#8220;unnecessary&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".967nrv2nwm.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-37\"><span data-reactid=\".967nrv2nwm.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-37.0\">Ireland and Reading defender Diane Caldwell, who will be at her country&#8217;s first Women&#8217;s World Cup, said: &#8220;I&#8217;m sure Fifa will say they&#8217;ve done it to help the women&#8217;s game grow. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".967nrv2nwm.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-38\"><span data-reactid=\".967nrv2nwm.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-38.0\">&#8220;Of course we all want the game to grow, but it can be done in a sustainable way and not by flying 10 teams from different continents to New Zealand to compete.
