A person caught riding a pregnant Jersey cow has apologised after a social media appeal.<\/p>\n
Master Farms, in Grouville, Jersey, posted a CCTV picture on Facebook at the weekend of a man who climbed onto the back of one of its heifers.<\/p>\n
Farmer Phil Le Maistre said the person involved had contacted him to apologise.<\/p>\n
He said they had agreed to pay the bill for the vet who examined the cow – finding the mother and baby were both fine.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Writing on the farm’s social media, he said: “Thanks to everyone who has shared our post and also asked how the heifer, May, is doing. <\/p>\n
“The vet\u2019s been out today to check her over and she\u2019s all fine along with her baby which is a big relief and the news we were hoping to hear.”<\/p>\n
Mr Le Maistre said the community spirit on the island following what happened to May was “amazing to see”.<\/p>\n
He said: “We have found the person responsible who has been in contact with us and the police. <\/p>\n
“They have apologised and regret their actions. <\/p>\n
“They will be paying for the vet bill and also we have asked them to make a donation to a local animal charity.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
