A small sinkhole has appeared at the site of a burst water main<\/figcaption><\/p>\n<\/figure>\n

A number of streets in Inverness city centre have been closed after a burst water main resulted in a small sinkhole.<\/p>\n

Highland Council said a decision was taken to close the roads because of concerns about further risks to an area of road on Bridge Street.<\/p>\n

Parts of Bridge Street, High Street and Castle Street were closed at 19:00 on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Highland Council said it could take Scottish Water three days to repair the water main.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The local authority said it had notified bus operators and services would be rerouted during the closure period.<\/p>\n

The council added: “All parties are working together to try and minimise disruption, but some disruption is inevitable.<\/p>\n

“We apologise for any inconvenience and aim to have the road reopened as soon as possible.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n
