The woman was attacked on Abbey Road, near Newbattle Golf Club<\/figcaption><\/p>\n<\/figure>\n

A woman has been badly injured by a man who attacked her near a golf club in Midlothian. <\/p>\n

The 26-year-old was walking in a wooded area near Newbattle Golf Course in Dalkeith on Friday evening when she was assaulted.<\/p>\n

He is described as white, in his late 30s with stubble. He was wearing black trousers, a black waterproof jacket and had a dog lead around his neck, but it is not believed he had a dog with him.<\/p>\n

Emergency services attended and she was taken to hospital with serious injuries.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Police Scotland said the attack took place on Abbey Road between 17:30 and 18:00, and urged anyone with information to contact them<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Det Insp Laura White said: \u201cIt\u2019s vital we trace the person responsible.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are aware this incident has caused alarm in the local community however, I would like to reassure the public, everything possible is being done and there will continue to be an increased police presence in the area as our investigation progresses.<\/p>\n
