A murder investigation has been launched following the discovery of a body of a woman in her 50s in County Cavan.<\/p>\n

Garda\u00ed (Irish police) said they were called to a house in a rural area, in Ballyconnell, at about 21:30 local time on Saturday. <\/p>\n

A man in his 60s was also seriously injured and taken to hospital. He remains in a serious but stable condition.<\/p>\n

One man, in his 30s, has been arrested at a separate location.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Post-mortem examination<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n

The woman’s body remained at the scene overnight but has now been taken for post-mortem examination to Cavan General Hospital.<\/p>\n

The investigation is continuing. Investigating Garda\u00ed are appealing for witnesses and those with information to come forward.<\/p>\n

Anyone who travelled in the area of Kilnavert, Ballyconnell, on Saturday 11 January, between 20.30 and 21.30, is asked to provide Garda\u00ed with any available camera footage, including dashcam recordings.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n
