{"id":47173,"date":"2025-01-19T11:12:06","date_gmt":"2025-01-19T11:12:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kede.com.br\/news\/conwy-water-90-back-on-despite-overnight-bursts\/"},"modified":"2025-01-19T11:12:08","modified_gmt":"2025-01-19T11:12:08","slug":"conwy-water-90-back-on-despite-overnight-bursts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kede.com.br\/news\/conwy-water-90-back-on-despite-overnight-bursts\/","title":{"rendered":"Conwy water 90% back on despite overnight bursts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div data-component=\"text-block\">\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">Water supplies have been restored to 90% of homes after major disruption despite more bursts overnight. <!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">However, some people in &#8220;more elevated areas&#8221; are waking up on Sunday morning to a fourth day without water and will have to wait until the afternoon for supplies to be restored. <!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">A burst pipe at a treatment plant in Dolgarrog, Conwy, is thought to have affected about <!-- --><a target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/c39102xj97ko\" class=\"sc-c9299ecf-0 bZUiKB\" rel=\"noopener\">40,000 homes since Wednesday<!-- --><\/a>, closing some schools and businesses. <!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">Welsh Water said it repaired a number of smaller leaks and bursts overnight as the system re-pressurised after emptying. <!-- --><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-component=\"text-block\">\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">There were reports from residents on social media of a burst pipe on Pentywyn Hill in Deganwy, Llandudno, and also one in Fairways in Llandudno. <!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">One woman in Fairways commented asking for sandbags at about 22:00 GMT on Saturday, saying house floors and garages were at risk of flooding. <!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">Welsh Water said inspectors were out on the ground to help manage and mitigate any leaks so supplies can be maintained. <!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">The damaged pipe in Dolgarrog was fixed on Friday afternoon, but the company warned it may take 48 hours for supplies to return to normal. <!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">Speaking to <!-- --><a target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/sounds\/play\/m00272qc\" class=\"sc-c9299ecf-0 bZUiKB\" rel=\"noopener\">BBC Radio Wales Breakfast<!-- --><\/a> on Saturday, the company&#8217;s chief executive, Peter Perry, said the incident was a &#8220;catastrophic failure&#8221; caused by ground movement, which could not have been foreseen or prevented.<!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">Bottled water stations have been set up at four stations in Conwy, running in Park Eirias in Colwyn, Zip World Conwy, Llandudno West Shore car park and Bodlondeb site.<!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">Welsh Water said on Sunday alternative water supplies would continue to be in place.<!-- --><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/czx8nkg4v21o\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Water supplies have been restored to 90% of homes after major disruption despite more bursts overnight.
