Several roads have been closed and properties evacuated after firefighters were called out to tackle a serious blaze near Aberdeen FC’s Pittodrie Stadium<\/p>\n

Emergency services were called to the fire at a garage premises on Merkland Road East at about 08:00.<\/p>\n

Police Scotland said it had closed Merkland Road East, Ardarroch Road and Pittodrie Street as a result.<\/p>\n

Motorists were asked to avoid the area and use alternative routes until further notice.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

King Street remains open to traffic and the Aberdeen FC shop and ticket office was temporarily closed.<\/p>\n

A plume of dark smoke could be seen across the Aberdeen skyline due to the fire.<\/p>\n

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) said: “Operations Control initially mobilised two appliances to the scene, and firefighters called for a further five appliances to support them.<\/p>\n

“There are no reports of any casualties. Police Scotland are evacuating nearby properties”.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
