smaller mobile companies which use Three&#8217;s network.<!-- --><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-component=\"text-block\">\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">A Three spokesperson said: &#8220;Following an issue affecting voice calls yesterday, services have returned to normal overnight. <!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">&#8220;We continue to monitor and review all services throughout today to ensure full stability. <!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">&#8220;However, today we expect to see an additional impact on our service due to Storm \u00c9owyn in some areas.&#8221;<!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">The spokesperson said extra engineering resources had been deployed to deal with any disruption caused by the storm, <!-- --><a target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/live\/cy5kwlpzlnkt\" class=\"sc-c9299ecf-0 bZUiKB\" rel=\"noopener\">which is battering the UK on Friday. <!-- --><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">Just after 07:00 on Friday, Downdetector had over 1,300 reports of outages on Three.<!-- --><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-component=\"text-block\">\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">The BBC was told by members of the public that 999 calls would not connect from their devices using the Three network. <!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">While the BBC has not been able to independently verify their specific claims, Three has said it received a &#8220;small number&#8221; of reports of 999 call failures and has launched an investigation.<!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">A spokesperson added: &#8220;A normal volume of 999 calls were connected yesterday and our monitoring confirms the service is working fully this morning.  <!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">&#8220;We apologise sincerely for the inconvenience caused by the issues on our voice network yesterday.&#8221;<!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">Three has around 10.5m customers across the UK, according to its website, but it is unclear how many of them were affected by the outage.<!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">Many people on social media shared their frustration and described the disruption they said it had caused them.<!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/TheOnlyImz\/status\/1882450132295434620\" class=\"sc-c9299ecf-0 bZUiKB\" rel=\"noopener\">One person claimed<!-- --><\/a> they had &#8220;missed a medical appointment&#8221; as a result of being unable to receive calls, <!-- --><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/glynnsho\/status\/1882443500824010876\" class=\"sc-c9299ecf-0 bZUiKB\" rel=\"noopener\">while another said<!-- --><\/a> the issues had left their daughter &#8220;stranded&#8221;.<!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/doyley1103\/status\/1882441087425654861\" class=\"sc-c9299ecf-0 bZUiKB\" rel=\"noopener\">And several people have claimed<!-- --><\/a> they would be leaving the network altogether.<!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">In a statement on Thursday, the regulator Ofcom said it was in contact with the network to &#8220;establish the scale and cause of the problem as soon as possible&#8221;.<!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">It is not known whether customers will be able to claim compensation for the outage, although according to the Ofcom website it &#8220;may be appropriate&#8221;
