A 62-year-old man has been charged with harassment against Education Minister Paul Givan.<\/p>\n
It follows a report to the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) on 7 February of abusive emails.<\/p>\n
The man is expected to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court on 14 March.<\/p>\n
The charge will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service (PPS).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
In a post on social media platform X on Tuesday, Givan said he would not be “deterred from serving the people of Northern Ireland as education minister”.<\/p>\n
Branding the alleged harassment as “unacceptable”, he added: “The harassment of public representatives undermines democracy and discourages others from putting themselves forward for public life.”<\/p>\n
Givan said the emails he reported to police were “regarding Lisneal College”.<\/p>\n
The school has been involved in a row over funding of a new pitch that was given without the school directly applying for the money.<\/p>\n
