A hunt has been launched for a 12-year-old boy who was found behind the wheel of a BMW X5 towing a suspected stolen caravan on the M1.<\/p>\n
The boy, who was 11 at the time, was arrested on the motorway near Garforth, West Yorkshire, last March after police were told a caravan had been stolen from a holiday site in Thirsk, North Yorkshire. <\/p>\n
The youngster was arrested on suspicion of theft, burglary and motoring offences, including dangerous driving, and was due to appear at Harrogate Magistrates’ Court on 14 March this year.<\/p>\n
However, North Yorkshire Police confirmed he had failed to attend court and a warrant had since been issued for his arrest. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
At the time of the incident, on 7 March 2024, officers said they had tracked a black BMW heading south on the A1 which was using cloned plates.<\/p>\n
About 45 minutes after the caravan was reported stolen, the car was stopped on the M1 after it was driven off the A1 at Hook Moor Interchange, police said.<\/p>\n
No one had been injured during the incident and the boy had been released on conditional bail, a North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said at the time.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
