Perth Museum said the Stone of Destiny was not damaged during the incident<\/figcaption><\/p>\n<\/figure>\n

A 35-year-old Australian man has appeared in court accused of using a hammer to smash the glass case housing the Stone of Destiny.<\/p>\n

Arnaud Harixcalde Logan, from Sydney, was charged with malicious mischief during a private hearing at Perth Sheriff Court.<\/p>\n

The alleged incident took place on Saturday afternoon at Perth Museum.<\/p>\n

Mr Logan made no plea, was remanded in custody and is expected to return to court next week.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The building was evacuated as a result of the incident.<\/p>\n

Perth Museum said the historic stone, used in the coronation of Scottish kings for hundreds of years, was not damaged.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/div>\n
