It is four red triangles inside a white circle.\" class=\"sc-d1200759-0 dvfjxj\"\/><span class=\"sc-d1200759-2 gwFzuU\">Getty Images<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<div data-component=\"text-block\" class=\"sc-3b6b161a-0 dEGcKf\">\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">HSBC has apologised after customers were left unable to access online banking or use its app in the UK, preventing some from accessing their accounts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">Thousands of people have reported problems on outage-checking site Downdetector since the issues first emerged at 11:00 BST on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">According to HSBC&#8217;s service status website, customers can still access their accounts by phone and in-person, and card payments are unaffected.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">&#8220;We&#8217;re really sorry and are investigating as a matter of urgency,&#8221; the bank said in a post on X.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">The BBC has approached HSBC for comment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-component=\"text-block\" class=\"sc-3b6b161a-0 dEGcKf\">\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">Customers have taken to social media to complain about the impact the outage is having on them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">One person said it was &#8220;very worrying&#8221;, with others complaining it comes amid bank branches being closed in the UK in the past few years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 hxuGS\">In 2022, HSBC announced the closure of 114 branches in the UK.
