Getty Images<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\nDublin Airport is facing a second day of disruption at Terminal 2 after a cyber-attack knocked out a check-in and baggage system.<\/p>\n The airport said it was continuing to support airlines dealing with the “Europe-wide technical issue<\/a>“.<\/p>\n A spokesperson said that as of midday, 13 flights have been cancelled – nine inbound and four outbound.<\/p>\n Aer Lingus said it would be “significantly impacted” on Sunday, leading to flight delays and cancellations. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n The airline also advised customers to check-in for flights online in advance and said updates would be provided. <\/p>\n Graeme McQueen, spokesperson for Dublin Airport, said they were continuing to support airlines dealing with “ongoing disruption caused by a Europe-wide technical issue that is impacting on their check-in and boarding systems”.<\/p>\n He added some airlines were continuing manual workarounds to generate bag tags and boarding passes with processes taking longer. <\/p>\n “Passengers should plan to arrive at the airport as normal today (two hours before a short haul flight and three hours before a long haul flight), however, those needing to check-in or drop off bags at the airport should allow additional time.<\/p>\n “If you are flying over the next 12, 24, 48 hours, keep an eye on your airline’s updates, they will have the latest updates on the status of your flight.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n RTX, which owns software provider Collins Aerospace, said it was “aware of a cyber-related disruption” to its system in “select airports” and that it hoped to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n It identified its Muse software – which allows different airlines to use the same check-in desks and boarding gates at an airport, rather than requiring their own – as the system that had been affected.<\/p>\n The company has yet to disclose what went wrong or how long it expects the outage to last.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n On Saturday, Terminal 2 was evacuated following a security alert<\/a> but was later given the “all-clear”.<\/p>\n The evacuation was a “precautionary measure” after police were alerted to a suspicious item of airline luggage at about 11:30 local time (11:30 BST).<\/p>\n Garda\u00ed (Irish police) were assisted by the Irish army’s explosive disposal team.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n‘Cyber-related disruption’<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n
