The parents of an autistic boy say they hope a new immersive room in their local hospital’s children’s A&E will stop other families like theirs feeling afraid to attend.<\/p>\n

Robert and Gemma Cummings spent the past year fundraising to open the room, after spending many years visiting A&E, which was “really challenging” as Ellis, their autistic son, is non-verbal.<\/p>\n

It is the first of its kind in Wales, and is located at the pediatric department of Prince Charles Hospital in their hometown of Merthyr Tydfil.<\/p>\n

They say they are “forever grateful” for the support they’ve recieved as they strived to create the space for children woith additional learning needs (ALN).<\/p>\n
