A beach hut with no electricity or running water has gone on the market for \u00a3200,000 – just shy of the average Welsh house price.<\/b><\/p>\n
On the sands of Abersoch in Gwynedd, Beach Hut 7 is a timber and corrugated iron cabin, one of only 17 on the right-hand side of the stretch of coast. <\/p>\n
But the structure on the stunning Ll\u0177n Peninsula won’t come cheap, listed at just \u00a315,000 below last year’s average Welsh house price.<\/a><\/p>\n Despite the seemingly-high price tag, estate agent Rhys Elvin expects the hut to be highly sought-after as technically, it means someone can own part of the beach.<\/p>\n The hut was rebuilt in 2023 and first advertised last week, but comes with few frills.<\/p>\n Owners also have to pay council tax on them – about \u00a3800 a year – and some even need to be dug out of the sand in the spring<\/a>. <\/p>\n Despite this, six-figure sums are not uncommon – a newly-completed beach hut went on the market in Abersoch last month for the same price<\/a>, plus another for \u00a3150,000, external<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n “There’s always demand for them,” Elvin said. <\/p>\n “[It’s] something that will never go down in value, you hope.<\/p>\n “It’s a rare thing to be able to own, you technically own part of the beach. It’s freehold property.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
