Japan’s Ayaka Furue leads the Evian Championship by two shots after the second round was completed early on Saturday because of dangerous weather conditions the previous day.
World number 21 Furue followed up a bogey-free opening round in the fourth women’s major this season by making six birdies to climb to 12 under before storms curtailed play on Friday.
Furue resumed on the 14th hole at the Evian Resort Golf Club and went on to finish with five pars in a round of 65.
Scotland’s Gemma Dryburgh, who shared the first-round lead after an opening 64, is five shots back after she birdied the last two holes and is tied for sixth place.
Players were evacuated from the course on Friday because of storms in the area which meant 66 players had to resume on the course at 07:30 BST.
The third round is set to begin at approximately 09:45 with starts from both the first and 10th tees.
One player who did complete their round on Friday was England’s Georgia Hall, the 2018 Women’s Open champion, who overcame a shoulder injury to produce a brilliant finish.
One over par after 10 holes, Hall carded birdies on the 11th, 15th and 16th and an eagle on the 18th to complete a score of 67 to end the round six-under par.
Englishwomen Bronte Law, Charley Hull and Jodi Ewart Shadoff all missed the cut along with amateur compatriot Lottie Woad.
