What is at stake for Joshua against Franklin?
Joshua has suffered consecutive world-title defeats, losing both times against unified champion Oleksandr Usyk.
He said last month he has put his heart back into the sport and was now more serious than ever before about his boxing career.
Joshua is fighting at the O2 Arena for the first time since 2016, and it is the first time in eight years he will not be fighting for a world title.
After his recent defeats, the Briton needs a win at what is a crossroads in his career. Promoter Eddie Hearn described Saturday’s contest as “perhaps the most important chapter so far” for Joshua, who has changed coaches to work with Derrick James to help him rebuild his form.
The 29-year-old Franklin – who lost to Dillian Whyte on points last December – is considered the clear underdog.
