Inter Milan held on to claim an important victory away to fellow Champions League chasers Atalanta in Serie A.

Edin Dzeko brought the visitors level before half-time with a clever finish after being teed up by Lautaro Martinez, then added his second 10 minutes after the restart.

The lead was extended just past the hour mark when Jose Luis Palomino put one through his own net.

Although the centre-back atoned with a goal at the right end to make for a dramatic finish to the game, Inter held on to take the three points.

Inter briefly moved into the top four, but their stay in the Champions League places was short-lived as Juventus beat Lazio 3-0 to claim a sixth straight league win without conceding a goal and move up to third in the table.

A goal either side of half-time from Moise Kean and a late third from Arkadiusz Milik secured the victory to ensure Massimiliano Allegri’s side go into the break on a high.

Kean opened the scoring in the 43rd minute when he raced onto Adrien Rabiot’s pass and lobbed Ivan Provedel as the Lazio keeper charged out of his area.

The second came via a simple tap-in after Filip Kostic’s shot was pushed out by Provdel and Federico Chiesa crossed for Milik to complete the scoring in the 90th minute.

Elsewhere, manager Jose Mourinho was sent off before his Roma side salvaged a 1-1 draw at home to Torino thanks to Nemanja Matic’s 94th-minute strike in an action-packed finale at the Stadio Olimpico.

Karol Linetty put Torino ahead early in the 55th minute and, after Mourinho was shown a red card in the 89th minute following an outburst at the officials, Andrea Belotti hit the post with a stoppage-time penalty. But there was still time for Matic to snatch a point for Roma.

There was also late drama at the San Siro where AC Milan beat Fiorentina 2-1 courtesy of a 91st-minute own goal from Nikola Milenkovic to move up to second in the standings.

Rafael Leao had put the hosts ahead in the second minute but the visitors levelled through Antonin Barak in the 28th before Milan’s late winner.
