she told BBC Sport Africa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".27y2tk4w7k2.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-5\"><span data-reactid=\".27y2tk4w7k2.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-5.0\">&#8220;It really is interesting to see such development because it will serve as a motivation to the players.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".27y2tk4w7k2.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-6\"><span data-reactid=\".27y2tk4w7k2.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-6.0\">Reigning African champions South Africa are joined by Nigeria, who have been ever-presents at the event, plus Morocco and Zambia at this year&#8217;s tournament co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".27y2tk4w7k2.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-7\"><span data-reactid=\".27y2tk4w7k2.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-7.0\">The minimum $30,000 in direct prize money is more than twice the average salary of $14,000 for paid players surveyed in FIFA&#8217;s 2022 benchmarking report.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".27y2tk4w7k2.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\"><span data-reactid=\".27y2tk4w7k2.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8.0\">With a lack of sponsorship, investment and a growing number of struggling clubs on the continent, many Africa-based footballers often rely on earnings from the national teams.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".27y2tk4w7k2.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-9\"><span data-reactid=\".27y2tk4w7k2.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-9.0\">Africa&#8217;s most successful national side, Nigeria&#8217;s women&#8217;s team &#8211; the Super Falcons &#8211; have been in the public eye previously after <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/africa\/62243685\" class=\"story-body__internal-link\" title=\"\" data-reactid=\".27y2tk4w7k2.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-9.$link-2\"><span data-reactid=\".27y2tk4w7k2.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-9.$link-2.0\">protests by players relating to unpaid bonuses and allowances<\/span><\/a><span data-reactid=\".27y2tk4w7k2.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-9.3\"> at continental and global tournaments.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".27y2tk4w7k2.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-10\"><span data-reactid=\".27y2tk4w7k2.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-10.0\">At the 2019 Women&#8217;s World Cup in France, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/sport\/football\/48736330\" class=\"story-body__internal-link\" title=\"\" data-reactid=\".27y2tk4w7k2.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-10.$link-2\"><span data-reactid=\".27y2tk4w7k2.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-10.$link-2.0\">Nigeria players threatened a sit-in protest over unpaid salaries and bonuses<\/span><\/a><span data-reactid=\".27y2tk4w7k2.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-10.3\"> after their last-16 elimination by Germany. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".27y2tk4w7k2.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-11\"><span data-reactid=\".27y2tk4w7k2.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-11.0\">But Oshoala, who made scoring appearances at the 2015 and 2019 World Cup tournaments, is confident the latest Fifa distribution model, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/fifpro.org\/en\/who-we-are\/what-we-do\/foundations-of-work\/collective-action-fifpro-celebrates-players-improved-women-s-world-cup-pay-and-conditions\/\" class=\"story-body__external-link\" title=\"\" data-reactid=\".27y2tk4w7k2.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-11.$link-2\"><span data-reactid=\".27y2tk4w7k2.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-11.$link-2.0\">which has been endorsed by global players union Fifpro<\/span><span class=\"gs-u-ml- gel-icon\" style=\"height:15px;width:15px;\" data-reactid=\".27y2tk4w7k2.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-11.$link-2.1\"><svg viewbox=\"0 0 32 32\" data-reactid=\".27y2tk4w7k2.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-11.$link-2.1.0\"><title data-reactid=\".27y2tk4w7k2.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-11.$link-2.1.0.0\">external-link<\/title><path d=\"M12 0v5h11.5l-5 5H0v22h22V17.5l-2 2V30H2V12h14.5l-7.8 7.7 3.6 3.6L27 8.5V20h5V0H12z\" data-reactid=\".27y2tk4w7k2.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-11.$link-2.1.0.1\"\/><\/svg><\/span><\/a><span data-reactid=\".27y2tk4w7k2.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-11.3\">, can prevent another embarrassment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".27y2tk4w7k2.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-12\"><span data-reactid=\".27y2tk4w7k2.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-12.0\">&#8220;It&#8217;s not always a good look to stage protests because all the players want to do is focus on the football,&#8221;
