Former England rugby union captain Sarah Hunter and ex-footballer Ian Wright are among those named in the King’s Birthday Honours list.<\/span><\/p>\n Hunter, who retired in March with a record 141 caps, has been given a CBE for her services to rugby union.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Ex-Arsenal and England striker Wright, a BBC Sport pundit, becomes an OBE for services to football and charity.<\/span><\/p>\n World Netball president and ex-UK Sport chief executive <\/span>Liz Nicholl<\/strong> has been made a Dame for her services to sport.<\/span><\/p>\n “It has been a real privilege to serve in various roles in sport over the last 40-plus years, working alongside really talented colleagues, and I take huge delight in seeing the recent significant growth in opportunities for women and girls to enjoy participating in sport, both in the UK and internationally,” said Nicholl.<\/span><\/p>\n “I feel incredibly privileged to have now been awarded the honour of becoming a Dame.”<\/span><\/p>\n Paying tribute to their former player, Arsenal tweeted: “For all the dedication and unwavering support for the men’s and women’s game, this is an honour truly befitting of the man.”<\/span><\/p>\n Former England forward and broadcaster <\/span>Eniola Aluko<\/strong>, who won 102 caps for the Lionesses, has been made an MBE for her services to football and charity.<\/span><\/p>\n Darts player <\/span>Fallon Sherrock<\/strong> made history in 2019 by becoming the first woman to win a match at the PDC World Championship and is made an MBE for her services to her sport.<\/span><\/p>\n Other influential women to be honoured include former World Triathlon champion <\/span>Non Stanford<\/strong>, who becomes an MBE for services to triathlon in Wales.<\/span><\/p>\n Referee <\/span>Amy Fearn<\/strong> has been made an MBE for her services to football.<\/span><\/p>\n In 2010, she became the first woman to officiate a men’s England Football League (EFL) match when she replaced the injured Tony Bates for the final 20 minutes of Coventry City’s game against Nottingham Forest.<\/span><\/p>\n Former England cricketer and four-time Ashes winner <\/span>Lydia Greenway<\/strong> becomes an OBE, while England’s 2022 T20 World Cup winners <\/span>Sam Curran<\/strong> and <\/span>Adil Rashid<\/strong> become MBEs, all for their services to cricket.<\/span><\/p>\n Australia and French Open wheelchair tennis doubles winners <\/span>Alfie Hewett<\/strong> and<\/span> Gordon Reid<\/strong> are also included in the list of OBEs, while fellow wheelchair tennis player and three-time Paralympic medallist <\/span>Lucy Shuker <\/strong>receives a British Empire Medal.<\/span><\/p>\n “I never would have dreamed that I’d receive something like this in my lifetime,” said Hewett, who has also won seven Grand Slam singles titles. <\/span><\/p>\n “I just get my head down and work hard in the sport that I love, so I’m extremely proud and grateful for this, and everyone who has helped me get to where I am today.<\/span><\/p>\n “It’s amazing to see wheelchair tennis and disability sport get this level of recognition. It’s so vital in encouraging people with disabilities to be active and to just be creating a more inclusive society.”<\/span><\/p>\n England won the Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup last year and captain <\/span>Tom Halliwell<\/strong> has been made an OBE, while team-mate <\/span>Sebastien Bechara<\/strong> and coach <\/span>Tom Coyd<\/strong> have become MBEs.<\/span><\/p>\n Former Scotland footballer <\/span>John Greig<\/strong> made more than 700 appearances for Rangers and has become a CBE.<\/span><\/p>\n Northern Ireland and Leicester City defender <\/span>Jonny Evans, <\/strong>who has won 100 caps, has been made an MBE for his services to football in Northern Ireland.<\/span><\/p>\n “When I got the letter through the door and it had the royal seal on the back I was a bit shocked, but it was also amazing,” said Evans.<\/span><\/p>\n “It made me feel very proud, especially when I saw that it was in recognition of my contribution to association football in Northern
