England’s Mel Reid has been named one of Suzann Pettersen’s four vice-captains for this year’s Solheim Cup.<\/b><\/p>\n
Reid will join 2023 European vice-captains Anna Nordqvist, Dame Laura Davies and Caroline Martens in assisting Pettersen in September.<\/p>\n
Europe won in 2019 and 2021 then retained in 2023 so will seek to keep the trophy for a historic fourth time.<\/p>\n
“Everyone knows how much the Solheim Cup means to me and how much I love being part of it,” said Reid, 36.<\/p>\n
“It brings out passion and shows the best of what golf has to offer,” she added.<\/p>\n
Reid made her playing debut in the competition in 2011 and was a vice-captain in 2019.<\/p>\n
Pettersen said she is “excited” to have the same team of vice-captains along with the addition of Reid.<\/p>\n
“It was a very natural choice for me and the rest of the team to bring Mel in alongside us in a vice-captaincy role,” the Norwegian said.<\/p>\n
“She has an immense passion and ‘head’ for the Solheim Cup”.<\/p>\n
The Solheim Cup will take place from 10-15 September at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
