{"id":16007,"date":"2024-04-12T07:00:10","date_gmt":"2024-04-12T07:00:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kede.com.br\/sport\/commonwealth-games-2026-scaled-down-glasgow-event-option-to-be-proposed\/"},"modified":"2024-04-12T07:00:11","modified_gmt":"2024-04-12T07:00:11","slug":"commonwealth-games-2026-scaled-down-glasgow-event-option-to-be-proposed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kede.com.br\/sport\/commonwealth-games-2026-scaled-down-glasgow-event-option-to-be-proposed\/","title":{"rendered":"Commonwealth Games 2026: Scaled-down Glasgow event option to be proposed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><b class=\"ssrcss-1xjjfut-BoldText e5tfeyi3\">Glasgow is among the potential hosts of the 2026 Commonwealth Games &#8211; but the city is the last resort to hold the troubled edition. <\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">This week the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) said it was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/sport\/commonwealth-games\/68757228\" class=\"ssrcss-k8mrr8-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\">&#8220;considering multiple proposals&#8221;<\/a> amid continued uncertainty over the event&#8217;s long-term future. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Last week, Singapore joined Malaysia in ruling out a bid, after the Australian state of Victoria withdrew as host in July because of rising costs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Should any of the fresh bids from outside the UK not prove viable, there is a back-up concept which would bring a scaled-back Games to Scotland. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Confirmation of Glasgow&#8217;s offer is expected in the coming days.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The event was held in Glasgow in 2014 and facilities from then &#8211; such as the Emirates Arena &#8211; would be used again.
