McLaren boss Zak Brown called Lando Norris \u201ceveryone\u2019s favourite driver\u201d after the Briton won his first grand prix in Miami on Sunday.<\/b><\/p>\n
It took six seasons and a 110 starts before Norris, 24, finally topped the podium at a grand prix, with second his previous best finish.<\/p>\n
“I think that was a massive win for Lando and a lot of support behind it, chief executive director Brown told BBC 5 Live.<\/p>\n
“I never met anyone who doesn’t like Lando.”<\/p>\n
The turning point in Sunday’s grand prix came when Norris took advantage of the race restarting with 27 laps to go, beating Red Bull\u2019s world champion Max Verstappen into second.<\/p>\n
Brown said that Norris is “everyone’s favourite driver, or number two or number three, but I’ve never heard even number four, and I’ve certainly never heard anyone not like [him]\u201d.<\/p>\n
Norris’ win could signal the beginning of an end to Red Bull’s dominance<\/a> with chief technical officer Adrian Newey leaving the team and some uncertainty around Verstappen’s future.<\/p>\n Brown disagrees, however: \u201cNo I think that would be a bit premature thinking their time has gone but clearly with everything that has been going on this year<\/a>, and now Adrian Newey leaving, it\u2019s clear that team has some issues beyond the race car,” he said.<\/p>\n
