Broadhurst is competing at her favoured weight after having to previously shift divisions because Ireland’s Olympic champion Kellie Harrington also fights at 60kg.<\/p>\n
“I\u2019m glad to get the first one out of the way,” Broadhurst told GB Boxing in her first bout after a lengthy injury lay-off.<\/p>\n
“It\u2019s OK sparring and stuff but the nerves before a fight are completely different so it\u2019s good to finally be back in there at my natural weight as well.<\/p>\n
“I couldn\u2019t have asked for a better bunch of people to be working with. They\u2019ve been amazing to me,” added Broadhurst of her GB coaches.<\/p>\n
Ireland’s Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist Aidan Walsh won his opening qualifier bout on Sunday with a dominant 5-0 over Kenya’s Boniface Mogunde Maina.<\/p>\n
Walsh’s win moved him into the final 32, with five Paris spots available in his light-middleweight division.<\/p>\n
