{"id":18986,"date":"2024-06-22T13:14:10","date_gmt":"2024-06-22T13:14:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kede.com.br\/sport\/womens-pga-championship-nelly-korda-hits-81-in-second-round-to-miss-cut\/"},"modified":"2024-06-22T13:14:11","modified_gmt":"2024-06-22T13:14:11","slug":"womens-pga-championship-nelly-korda-hits-81-in-second-round-to-miss-cut","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kede.com.br\/sport\/womens-pga-championship-nelly-korda-hits-81-in-second-round-to-miss-cut\/","title":{"rendered":"Women&#8217;s PGA Championship: Nelly Korda hits 81 in second round to miss cut"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><b class=\"ssrcss-1xjjfut-BoldText e5tfeyi3\">Nelly Korda missed the cut at the Women\u2019s PGA Championship as Sarah Schmelzel and Amy Yang moved into the joint lead after the second round in Seattle.<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">World number one Korda shot a nine-over par second-round 81 which included a double bogey, eight bogeys &#8211; four of which came on the first four holes &#8211; and one birdie.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The 25-year-old American, who won the first major of the season and was aiming for her seventh victory of the year, finished on six over par. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;No words for how I&#8217;m playing right now,&#8221; said Korda, who was one shot off the lead in joint second following the first round.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;I&#8217;m just going to go home and try to reset.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;A lot went my way at the beginning part of the year, and just giving it back.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">American Schmelzel carded a 67 and South Korea&#8217;s Yang a 68 in the second round at the Sahalee Country Club to move top of the leaderboard on six under par.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Overnight leader Lexi Thompson is in joint third on four under after a 72, while Ireland&#8217;s Leona Maguire (71) is one shot further back.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">England&#8217;s Charley Hull carded a 73 and is on one under while compatriot Georgia Hall, on two over, was the only other Briton to make the cut with Northern Ireland&#8217;s Stephanie Meadow exiting on 11 over.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Schmelzel, who has never won an LPGA event, hit the last of Friday&#8217;s six birdies on the last hole.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;I kind of caught a glimpse of leaderboard on 17 and saw I was right around the lead,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;It was just nice to be able to finish that well, too, knowing I was around the lead in a major.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/golf\/articles\/ce77r20x25xo\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nelly Korda missed the cut at the Women\u2019s PGA Championship as Sarah Schmelzel and Amy Yang moved into the joint lead after the second round in Seattle.
