Caitlin Clark broke the WNBA’s single-season assist record as the Indiana Fever lost 78-74 at home to the Las Vegas Aces on Friday.<\/b><\/p>\n
Clark went level with the mark of 316 set by the Connecticut Sun’s Alyssa Thomas last year in the second quarter, before passing that total in the third.<\/p>\n
Rookie Clark finished with nine assists on the night for Indiana, raising her total to 321, and added 18 points.<\/p>\n
The 22-year-old former college star has had a fine debut season in the WNBA and leads the league for assists and three-pointers made.<\/p>\n
Her latest milestone came two days after A’ja Wilson broke the single-season points record, helping the Aces beat the Fever 86-75.<\/p>\n
The 28-year-old Wilson, who is favourite to be named the WNBA’s Most Valuable Player for a third time, scored a game-high 27 points to take her past the previous record of 939 set by the Seattle Storm’s Jewell Loyd last year.<\/p>\n
Wilson added another 15 points on Friday, with Chelsea Gray scoring a game-high 21 for Las Vegas, to reach 971 points for the season.<\/p>\n
The Aces have three games left for Wilson to become the first player in WNBA history to reach 1,000 points in a season.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
