The 11th seeds won 6-4 4-6 6-4 inside one hour and 49 minutes, becoming the only Britons to win on day seven in Melbourne.<\/p>\n
Tenth seeds Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski fell to a 6-2 6-4 defeat by Sweden’s Andre Goransson and Dutchman Sem Verbeek, while fellow Briton Luke Johnson also exited the competition.<\/p>\n
Johnson, alongside the Netherlands’ Sander Arends, lost 7-6 (7-3) 7-6 (9-7) to French 16th seeds Fabien Reboul and Sadio Doumbia. <\/p>\n
Elsewhere, Britain’s Harriet Dart and France’s Diane Parry were defeated 6-0 6-3 by fifth seeds Chan Hao-ching of Chinese Taipei and Ukraine’s Lyudmyla Kichenok in the women’s doubles.<\/p>\n
Salisbury also exited in the mixed doubles alongside Latvia’s Jelena Ostapenko, losing 3-6 6-3 10-1 to New Zealand’s second seeds Michael Venus and Erin Routliffe.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
