The English Football League is investigating crowd incidents during Wrexham’s League One fixture with Shrewsbury Town on Thursday.<\/b><\/p>\n
Stewards formed a barricade as Wrexham’s James McClean went to take a throw-in in front of Shrewsbury’s supporters in the second half of the contest at The Croud Meadow.<\/p>\n
Play was briefly halted as a result, with footage showing objects being thrown from the stands in the direction of McClean – who made derogatory comments about Shrewsbury on his Instagram account after Wrexham’s 2-1 defeat.<\/p>\n
The post was later deleted.<\/p>\n
Speaking to Sky Sports about the incident involving McClean, Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson said: “He’s fine. James is used to it wherever he goes. <\/p>\n
“Fans get on his back home and away and sometimes it can be tough and spill over but he is used to it.”<\/p>\n
It remains unclear if McClean’s social media post is being investigated, but Wrexham have confirmed the EFL is looking into the crowd incidents during their cross-border derby with Shrewsbury.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
