Scotland will be without Richie Gray for Saturday’s meeting with Argentina after the lock was given a three-week ban for dangerous play.<\/span><\/p>\n An independent disciplinary committee found the 33-year-old had acted recklessly when leading with an elbow that caught the head of an opponent during Sunday’s loss to New Zealand.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n The committee ruled against Gray “on the balance of probabilities”, saying there was a “high degree of danger”.<\/span><\/p>\n Gray will miss two games for Glasgow.<\/span><\/p>\n Those come at home to Leinster on 26 November and the 3 December date with Zebre in the United Rugby Championship.<\/span><\/p>\n “There was absolutely no malicious intention,” said Scotland assistant coach Pieter de Villiers prior to the verdict.<\/span><\/p>\n The committee explained Gray’s “excellent disciplinary record” had reduced the six-week entry point for such an offence by three weeks.<\/span><\/p>\n With Scott Cummings and Sam Skinner injured, Saracens’ uncapped Callum Hunter-Hill was called up to the squad following news of the citing.<\/span><\/p>\n Gray made his first Scotland start in five years against Fiji earlier this month and then continued his international renaissance by retaining his place for the 31-23 defeat to the All Blacks.<\/span><\/p>\n “His leadership and his experience set-piece-wise has been massive for us and his work outside set-piece as well is really good,” added de Villiers. “He has brought a lot to the table for us and it’s been great to see him in such good form.”<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
