Olympic silver-medallist Katarina Johnson-Thompson has withdrawn from her first heptathlon event since last year’s Paris Games because of a minor injury.<\/b><\/p>\n
Johnson-Thompson, 32, was to take part in the prestigious Gotzis Hypo Meeting to be held in Austria on Saturday and Sunday.<\/p>\n
But the two-time heptathlon world champion said on Thursday that she is “really gutted” to not be competing at the weekend after picking up the injury in training.<\/p>\n
“I was really looking forward to competing in my first heptathlon since Paris, especially at Gotzis as the event is so special,” Johnson-Thompson said in an Instagram post.<\/p>\n
“It is with a heavy heart that I’ve had to make this decision. Thankfully the injury is nothing serious and I’ll be back on the track shortly.”<\/p>\n
The Great Britain athlete won her first Olympic medal<\/a> in four Games when she finished behind Belgium’s Nafissatou Thiam in Paris.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
