With Formula 1 celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, and the 2025 season arriving at Silverstone, BBC Sport wanted to answer the question: What is the most memorable British Grand Prix? <\/b><\/p>\n
We asked you to choose from a list of nine and the winner was Lewis Hamilton’s wet-weather masterclass in the McLaren from 2008, with 20% of the votes. <\/p>\n
In second place was Nigel Mansell’s famous overtake on Williams team-mate Nelson Piquet for victory in 1987, with 18%. <\/p>\n
And Hamilton’s emotional Mercedes win at last year’s grand prix – his first in more than two years – was voted in third place, taking 17% of your votes. <\/p>\n

Austrian Jochen Rindt, driving for Lotus, took pole ahead of Stewart’s Matra. As soon as the flag dropped, though, the two drivers began an epic duel that would see the lead of the race regularly change hands. <\/p>\n
In the closing stages, bodywork damage and a lack of fuel denied Rindt the chance of victory. Stewart triumphed, lapping the entire field, before toasting the win with his wife, Helen. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
