Sir Nick Faldo is returning home after having “successful” open-heart surgery, the six-time major winner’s team has said on social media.<\/b><\/p>\n

The Englishman won both the Masters and The Open on three occasions and ended his career with 43 tournament victories.<\/p>\n

Faldo, 68, is widely regarded as Britain’s greatest player of the modern era.<\/p>\n

“Headed home,” read a post on Faldo’s X account., external<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

“After two weeks in Cleveland, Nick Faldo, and his wife, Lindsay, are on their way home following a successful, scheduled preventative open-heart surgery to repair his enlarged aorta, performed by world-renowned cardiac surgeon Dr Lars Svensson at The Cleveland Clinic.<\/p>\n

“Nick is now looking ahead to returning to his golf course design work and to the Masters Week in Augusta, GA, where he will be celebrating ‘Six back in ’96’.<\/p>\n

“Home never felt so good.”<\/p>\n

Faldo, who won his Masters titles in 1989, 1990 and 1996, and The Open in 1987, 1990 and 1992, was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1997 and was named PGA player of the year in 1990.<\/p>\n

He spent a total of 97 weeks ranked as world number one.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
