{"id":41552,"date":"2026-04-24T04:10:25","date_gmt":"2026-04-24T04:10:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kede.com.br\/sport\/demelza-short-bristol-bears-forward-extends-deal-after-england-debut\/"},"modified":"2026-04-24T04:10:28","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T04:10:28","slug":"demelza-short-bristol-bears-forward-extends-deal-after-england-debut","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kede.com.br\/sport\/demelza-short-bristol-bears-forward-extends-deal-after-england-debut\/","title":{"rendered":"Demelza Short: Bristol Bears forward extends deal after England debut"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><b class=\"ssrcss-1xjjfut-BoldText e5tfeyi3\">England back-row forward Demelza Short has signed a new deal to stay with Premiership Women&#8217;s Rugby side Bristol Bears.<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The 19-year-old made her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/rugby-union\/articles\/cwyx0lv9le4o\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\">Red Roses debut<\/a> in their 84-7 thrashing of Scotland last Saturday in the Women&#8217;s Six Nations. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Short signed for Bristol last summer and has made eight appearances this season in the PWR. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Head coach Scott Lawson said Short is an &#8220;outstanding young talent&#8221;. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;[She] has really seized her opportunity this season, stepping up brilliantly when the squad was stretched by international call-ups and injuries,&#8221; Lawson said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;She&#8217;s shown maturity beyond her years and we believe she has an exceptionally high ceiling.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Short, who can play across the back five of the scrum, has been named among the replacements for England&#8217;s next Six Nations fixture against Wales on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;I&#8217;m looking forward to continuing to develop and contributing to the team&#8217;s success, learning from incredible role models around me and focusing on getting better every day,&#8221; Short said of the new deal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Bristol have not disclosed the length of Short&#8217;s new contract.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/rugby-union\/articles\/cvgejrg72mvo?at_medium=RSS&#038;at_campaign=rss\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>England back-row forward Demelza Short has signed a new deal to stay with Premiership Women&#8217;s Rugby side Bristol Bears.
