Scotland centre Meryl Smith has signed a new contract to stay with Premiership Women’s Rugby side Bristol Bears. <\/b><\/p>\n

Smith, who can also play at fly-half, joined the Bears in 2023 having previously played at Edinburgh University.<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old has 26 caps for Scotland since her debut in 2022 and is part of their current Women’s Six Nations team. <\/p>\n

She returned to action in January after 18 months out because of a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament, which led to her also missing the Women’s Rugby World Cup.<\/p>\n

Bristol head coach Scott Lawson said Smith is one of the “standout playmakers”, external<\/span><\/a> in the league.<\/p>\n

“The influence she has on our game is huge \u2013 her vision, decision-making and ability to bring others into the game make her such an important player for us,” he added.<\/p>\n

“Since returning from injury, her leadership and drive have been a crucial factor in some crucial wins for the team \u2013 and her attitude and commitment to come back from such a serious, long-term injury has been inspirational.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
