Green Bay Packers star running back Josh Jacobs has been released pending further investigation after an arrest on five domestic abuse charges.<\/b><\/p>\n
The 28-year-old was taken to Brown County Jail on Tuesday after the local Hobart-Lawrence Police Department in Wisconsin said they attended a disturbance complaint on Saturday morning.<\/p>\n
He faces allegations of battery, criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct, as well as intimidation of a victim plus strangulation and suffocation, but was released from custody on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
“After reviewing the available evidence in this case, the Brown County District Attorney’s Office is not yet prepared to make a formal charging decision,” District Attorney David L. Lasee said in a statement. <\/p>\n
“Our office has requested additional investigation, as there is reason to believe that additional evidence may exist that would impact whether criminal charges are appropriate.”<\/p>\n
Jacobs denied the allegations through his legal representatives.<\/p>\n
“Josh vehemently denies the allegations, and this matter is in the early stages of investigation with important evidence that has not yet been made public,” attorneys David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Clarence Duchac said in a statement. <\/p>\n
In a further statement on Wednesday, his lawyers added: “We are extremely pleased that Josh has been released from custody and that no criminal charges have been filed against him.<\/p>\n
“As we previously stated, we encourage everyone to keep an open mind while the matter is fully reviewed. <\/p>\n
“We remain confident that, once all of the evidence is gathered and evaluated, it will confirm that no charges should be brought against Josh in the future.”<\/p>\n
The Packers said they were “aware of the matter” but would not comment further on “an ongoing legal situation”.<\/p>\n
“We are aware of the report and have been in contact with the club,” the NFL said.<\/p>\n
Jacobs is entering his third season with the Packers after signing a four-year $48m (\u00a335.6m) free agent deal in 2024.<\/p>\n
He is a three-time Pro Bowl selection (2020, 2022, 2024) and led the NFL in rushing yards during his time with the Las Vegas Raiders.<\/p>\n
In seven seasons, he has rushed for 7,803 yards from 1,840 carries and has scored 74 touchdowns.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
