{"id":43529,"date":"2026-06-12T06:28:04","date_gmt":"2026-06-12T06:28:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kede.com.br\/sport\/giro-ditalia-jonas-vingegaard-on-verge-of-victory-after-winning-stage-20\/"},"modified":"2026-06-12T06:28:07","modified_gmt":"2026-06-12T06:28:07","slug":"giro-ditalia-jonas-vingegaard-on-verge-of-victory-after-winning-stage-20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kede.com.br\/sport\/giro-ditalia-jonas-vingegaard-on-verge-of-victory-after-winning-stage-20\/","title":{"rendered":"Giro d&#8217;Italia: Jonas Vingegaard on verge of victory after winning stage 20"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><b class=\"ssrcss-1xjjfut-BoldText e5tfeyi3\">Overall leader Jonas Vingegaard launched an attack during the tough final climb to clinch victory in Saturday&#8217;s stage 20 of the Giro d&#8217;Italia.<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">It ensures the 29-year-old from Denmark will win the race as long as he safely finishes Sunday&#8217;s final stage in Rome and become just the eighth man to complete the triple crown of road cycling&#8217;s three-week showpieces.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The two-time Tour de France winner, who also won last year&#8217;s Vuelta a Espana, is making his first appearance in the Giro and has won five stages of the race.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">He started the penultimate stage covering 200km from Gemona del Friuli to Piancavallo four minutes three seconds ahead of second-placed Felix Gall of Austria in the general classification.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Vingegaard was happy to ride safely in the peloton for the first two-thirds of the stage between two Visma-Lease a Bike team-mates, before launching his attack in the final 10km.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Gall tried to chase him down during the attack, but the Dane pulled more than a minute ahead going into the final 5km to secure a sensational solo victory, one minute 15 seconds ahead of second-placed Gall with Australian rider Jai Hindley completing the podium.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;We went all-in for the stage,&#8221; said Vingegaard. &#8220;We decided to go for it &#8211; it was the last day in the mountains, so today everything would be decided.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;The boys did an amazing job again today.
