Ireland’s Padraig Harrington has won the US Senior Open for a record-equalling third time at Scioto Country Club in Ohio.<\/b><\/p>\n
Harrington joins Miller Barber as the only player to win the senior major for a third time as he added to triumphs in 2022 and 2025. <\/p>\n
The 54-year-old won by four strokes ahead of home favourite Stewart Cink, who held a one-shot advantage heading into the final round.<\/p>\n
However, Harrington shot four under over the final 18 holes to end the competition on 12 under, while Cink faded over the closing round.<\/p>\n
England’s Ian Poulter was fourth, seven shots behind Harrington, while Welshman Jamie Donaldson was tied for fifth and Northern Ireland’s Darren Clarke tied for eighth on three under for the tournament. <\/p>\n
“When I came out here four years ago I was surprised how big a tournament it was, it’s like playing an old major,” Harrington told the USGA after his success.<\/p>\n
“It’s very rare for me to win a tournament where it is actually boring coming down the stretch, normally there is some drama but there wasn’t much excitement today, which is nice for me.”<\/p>\n
It was Harrington’s fourth senior major after he also lifted the Senior Open Championship last year.<\/p>\n
Harrington won the Open Championship in 2007 and 2008, the same year he also won the PGA Championship.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
